Logo and Motto

Thailand Foundation’s logo portrays three distinctive spires (or “prang” in Thai) of Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). The Temple was chosen as the emblem of the organization due to its historic significance to travelers both local and from abroad. Wat Arun dates back to the Ayutthaya period. However, its prangs were built during the reigns of King Rama II and King Rama III. The central spire then became one of the tallest constructions in Bangkok at the time when modern-day skyscrapers and colossal buildings were not yet introduced. Travelers would look to the towering landmark to guide their directions toward the capital. Foreigners sailing up the Chao Phraya River from the sea would have viewed the sight of the central spire as a marker of having arrived in Thailand. With the rise of tourism, the sunset scene over the Chao Phraya River with Wat Arun as a background is considered a must-see sight by many visitors. Today, the Temple remains one of Thailand’s iconic sites and a symbol of welcome for travelers to the country.

The Foundation’s motto, “Connecting People Through Goodwill and Friendship,” refers to its aim to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between Thailand and the rest of the world. Through this effort, the Foundation hopes to foster synergy and friendship across the globe.
