Dvaravati Art: Royal Regalia

The Dvaravati Civilization, is an ancient civilization that spanned across Central and Northeast Thailand, as well as other areas in the region. The people of Dvaravati built impressive city states, conducted international trade, crafted stunning artworks, and played an important role in spreading Buddhism in the region. Though much of its history is still being uncovered by scholars, Dvaravati left behind a long-lasting legacy. Dvaravati art and architecture, in particular, still exerts influence on Thai art and architecture until this day. Today, we take you into the mysterious past, as we glimpse upon royalty and refinery. In “The King of Sri Dvaravati And His Regalia”, J.J. Boeles attempts to recreate what the the monarchs of this ancient civilization may have possessed, through historic and archaeological research.
