Senate grants “Honorable Organization Awards” to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Public Diplomacy Award Initiative

On 4 April 2023, the Senate hosted “Hall of Fame Ceremony (หอเกียรติยศ วุฒิสภา)” to present the “Honorable Organization Awards (รางวัลองค์กรเกียรติยศ)” with the intent of honoring public, private, and non-government sectors that promote virtues, talents, courage, and opportunities for Thais to realize the vision of Thailand’s sustainable development.

On this occasion, the Public Diplomacy Award project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation was among the winners of this year’s Honorable Organization Awards. Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, is the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to receive the award from Mr. Supachai Somcharoen, the second Vice-President of the Senate.

The Public Diplomacy Award is designed to present annually to honor individuals, groups of people, and/or organizations, who prominently conduct activities or projects that lead to enhancing friendship and understanding at people-to-people level among Thai people and the world. This Award was initiated by the former Vice Chairman of the Thailand Foundation’s board and former Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi in 2022. The awardee of the Public Diplomacy Award 2022 was Dr. Soontorn Antarasena, an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) doctor who has been addressing health challenges to over 70,000 people suffering from ear diseases and related disorders in over 80 cities, 10 countries, in the past 3 decades.
